Today I saw the nicest thing on the bus ride to Tripler. A young women enjoying her young child, the boy couldn’t have been more than five or so. They were both laughing. She was rushing to get on the bus, as she got on she dropped a flower (ginger), she had been wearing. Her body looked worn and her face had a scar on her left cheek. But none of this mattered, really, not one bit. She sat with her son and just continued smiling. So smiling that smiles become one, making the continued sharing of smiles between a son a loving mother elevate them both to a place of love and joy, if only briefly. Seeing their smiles was the best part of my day. Hawaii August 7, 2007 Journal, Humility Daniel Alberdeston©2020
